Four people were arrested after a pair of possibly gang-related shootings in Orange County early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

At around 12:45 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the area near Calle Campana and Calle Canasta after learning of gunshots in the area, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department's San Clemente Police Services.

"While patrol checking the area, deputies located shell casings and other evidence of a possible shooting," the OCSD statement said. "Shortly after deputies discovered the crime scene, a vehicle possibly related was located in the City of Dana Point."

Deputies responded to the area and attempted to stop the car, which eventually yielded in San Juan Capistrano. Two occupants quickly jumped out of the car and ran from the area on foot, the statement said.

"One of the subjects was seen running with a handgun in his possession," deputies said. "Both subjects were caught and detained pending additional investigation."

Deputies also arrested two other occupants of the car that remained inside when they pulled over.

After the foot chase came to an end, deputies swept the area and found two handguns and "several rounds of ammunition." Upon returning to the original shooting scene in San Clemente, deputies conducted another sweep but found no victims.

OCSD Gang investigators were called to assist with the investigation.

Deputies tell KCAL News that this appears to be an isolated incident and that there is not further danger to the public.
