Jurupa Valley child's pony stolen from family yard
A child is heartbroken after someone stole his pet pony from his family's Jurupa Valley yard.
"I miss him," said 6-year-old Ruben Vasquez Jr.
The boy named his pony "Little Evil" and raised the tiny equine since it was just a few months old. The 6-year-old was just starting to learn how to ride him.
"There were two ponies in there and they took the smallest one," mother Myra Anguiano said.
Little Evil disappeared over the weekend. Ruben Vasquez Sr. said he came home Friday night and saw both of the ponies in the pen. However, when he came out to feed them an hour later, Little Evil was missing.
"I imagine they wanted this one but couldn't take him out and took the other one," Vasquez Sr. said.
Initially, the family thought the pony had run away, but they later found a broken fence and bolt cutters near it.
"I can't believe it," Anguiano said. "Very heartbreaking for me as a mother to see my son being so sad about it."
The Vasquez family had two ponies for both of their children. They started an online fundraiser to help the young Ruben replace Little Evil. However, they hope the boy's pony is found or returned.
"Everyone one knows each other right here," Anguiano said. It's a small city. Someone has to have seen something, heard something."
